Rachels Famous Short Walks: Darwin's Rocks D 4

We walk to Moel Tryfan, pausing for breath & widening views of sea, Llyn Peninsular, Eryri mountains and the Nantlle Ridge. A plaque on the large rock close to the summit commemorates Charles Darwin's visit to this remote hillside in 1842 where he confirmed the theory put forward by two other eminent scientists, Dr William Buckland and Joshua Trimmer, that the rugged and somewhat inhospitable hillside had been at the bottom of the sea 20,000 years earlier. Sticks & over trousers recommended in wet weather. Can be muddy, over rough moorland paths more strenuous that other Fron walks but still grade D. Please bring a panad - coffee/tea/soup afterwards in the Canolfan.
Grade D 4 miles, Height climbed 440 feet
