This 8.5 mile circular walk starts from the BRAND NEW train station, Reading Green Park. The walk is along a lot of urban paths with a stretch of off-road walking. We get to see the great sights of Reading – Wind Turbine, M4, A33, motorway bridges, new houses and some woodland.
Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can (see Website link), so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.
Pace: gentle.
Walk details
This will be the first walk to start from this new station. We start by heading out through the scenic Green Park Village with chance to see the local wild bird life (maybe some of the offspring too).
We get to pass the Reading Windmill! Well it’s the energy generating turbine near Costco which can be seen from many parts of Reading. As the walk continues along the paths of Green Park we make our way towards the A33.
Following the A33 (hopefully it’s not too busy and noisy from the cars) the walk makes its way to the bridges over Junction 12 – it’s an interesting way to see the junction and motorway.
After this we finally make it off road and on to the byway in Three Mile Cross. Following the byway parallel to the A33, we make our way into Spencers Wood.
The walk then starts its loop back towards Green Park Station along the footpaths of Spencers Wood before heading back over the grand bridges of Reading and on towards Green Park and finally arriving back to the shiny new Reading Green Park station.

When I did the recce for this walk there were no signs up directing you to the new station, so if you are unsure where it is I would recommend researching into it beforehand otherwise you may get lost trying to find it.
