We are the Ramblers Northampton. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Its quite a pleasant walk setting off from Riverside retail park and following the Nene to Brackmills. After negotiating Brackmills we follow part of the disused railway to Great Houghton. There is a small amount of road walking through Great Houghton and then we are out in the fields until we reach Little Houghton. After negotiating Little Houghton we are out in the fields again until we reach Billing Aquadrome. We follow the river again until we reach our starting point at Riverside retail park.
Its a fairly flat walk with one or two stiles. One of the stiles is a concrete ladder about five feet tall so if you cant climb please give this walk a miss. Also its a little bit muddy in places. One field has young cattle in but they are just a bit frisky. Some of the fields are very exposed and the wind whips across them so please dress appropriately. There is free parking at Riverside for four hours. I have measured the walk to 10.68k 6.6 miles. I am hoping that we can do it in 2.5 hours.
