This is a walk through gently rolling Hertfordshire countryside either along tracks and green lanes or quiet country roads, passing the River Ash in the morning and Stort navigation in the afternoon. Lunch will be at or near the Henry Moore sculpture park in Perry Green.
There won't be time to tour the park and studios (which is ticketed entry) however we will be able to see some of the sculptures from outside the park. I would recommend bringing a packed lunch as the only pub in Perry Green is currently closed however it is possible to visit the cafe, shop and toilets at the sculpture park without purchasing a ticket (though there will be a limited amount of time for this).
The walk is approximately 12.8 miles and we will start at 10.30am and finish at about 4.30pm, walking at about 2.5 miles per hour pace and stopping for lunch for about three quarters of an hour.
There will be the opportunity to finish the walk with a drink in one of the pubs in Sawbridgeworth for those that wish to do so.
Travel:
Take the 09.57 train from London Liverpool Street, (Tottenham Hale at 10.11) arriving at Roydon Station at 10.27. Buy a return ticket to Sawbridgeworth. At time of writing, there are regular trains back from Sawbridgeworth (16.32, 17.05, 17.32, 18.05 etc).
No booking required.
There are no obvious drop out points on this walk.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
