Overview

Seaton Sluice to St Mary’s Island, returning via Hartley and Holywell Dene.

Riverside, casual and woodland tracks with some minor road walking. Fairly flat, but there will be some mud and standing water.

There will be a coffee stop en route. There are picnic tables at the car park and good fish and chips available in Seaton Sluice!

Fountain Head public car park (Free) on sea front at Seaton Sluice (NZ333 770), where there are also public conveniences. DIRECTIONS : From Ponteland, take the road to Dinnington, turn right, then second left onto Coach Lane to Hazlerigg and Dinnington. Turn right then left at traffic light onto Sandy Lane (A1056). At next roundabout, turn second left onto A189 and at next roundabout keep in right hand lane and take 3rd exit onto A190, Continue on A190, through Seghill and Seaton Delaval (watch out for speed limits!). Past Seaton Delaval Hall, you reach a roundabout at the coast. Go straight across and into the car park.
