An easy to follow walk through the rolling hills of north-east County Durham. The clear route consists of footpaths, bridleways, lanes, woods, former railway lines, villages and hamlets in this former coalmining area.
The walk starts from the former mining village of Sherburn before field-walking takes you to the hamlet of Hallgarth. From here lane and field walking takes you to the small village of Littletown. Then we climb gently to Low Haswell Farm, from where there are great views of the surrounding area. The walk then changes direction and heads north-west through the hamlet of Hetton-le-Hill, followed by a panoramic field-walk to the highest point of the route before starting the ascent through Low Pittington and ending with a flat walk along two former railway lines to return to Sherburn.
