Meet 10.15am Shere Car Park, London Lane, Shere GU5 9HE, which is off Upper Street opposite its junction with Middle Street. Undulating paths and a gentle climb to Peaslake plus a few stiles. This walk is based on Les Ham’s book The Surrey Hills - walk 14. There are public toilets available near the start of the walk in Middle Street, Shere before the river (but none at coffee time). We will walk to Hoe for a DIY coffee stop then on to Peaslake for lunch. Either at the Hurtwood Inn or a picnic (seating near the bus shelter). The village shop opposite sells take away tea/coffee and also has a toilet upstairs for customers. After lunch we will return to Shere via Brook and Little London. There will be an option at the end of the walk to visit The White Horse Public House or have tea and cake at the Dabbling Duck Cafe.
If you plan to walk please text the leader your full name by 7pm the day before the walk, please include if you would like to have lunch in the pub. Contact Jean A 07802 457263.
Please plan your outward journey to make sure you arrive in time for the start of the walk. There are a number of roads closed in the area. Suggest you go via Chertsey straight down via Woking to Guildford (avoiding A3). Pick up the A25 at Guildford and stay on the A25 including turning right at junction following the Merrow Park & Ride roundabout. (That is right before the road becomes the A246). Continue on A25 past Newlands Corner until you pick up signs to Shere on the right.
