Join our friendly group for this delightful ramble over a variety of terrain, from woodland to farmland, with far-reaching views over Slaithwaite and Marsden Moors, before descending to a gentle stroll along a picturesque canal towpath back to the starting point. There are some short, steep inclines but taken at your own pace they are manageable with average fitness. Similarly, some sections of path require careful negotiation due to stiles, boggy areas or uneven or narrow steps; again this is appropriate for most abilities. Please meet at the Silent Woman Pub, and as this is a circular walk, you may be tempted inside at the end of the walk!
A packed lunch is suggested as there are no cafes en-route.
Dogs MUST be kept on a lead in accordance with Kirklees Council restrictions, particularly as we walk through protected areas of conservation.
There is limited parking in Slaithwaite, so please consider car-sharing. There is a very small car park, Old Bank car park, HD7 5AS, just below the meeting point at The Silent Woman pub.
Slaithwaite is on a bus route from Huddersfield but there is no rail station.
