Overview
This walk concentrates on the landscape south of Timsbury. Dropping down into the Cam Valley you will take a fascinating path along the route of the old coal trucks from Lower Conygre pit to the transportation systems in the valley and along the old canal path to the wooded coal spoil heap. Turn south through the gardens of Camerton Court via the sunken path and across farmland to Clandown. Begin your journey north by walking through the valley of Clandown Bottom and across the higher ground, favoured by sky larks, to the outskirts of Paulton. Possibly the best view from a small holding in Somerset can be had before dipping into the area of the old Paulton Iron and Brass foundry and historic coal canal. Finally follow the route (in reverse) taken by Clare Balding during her Radio Four 'Ramblings' programme from Timsbury in February 2023. The once busy hilly landscape provides wonderful views to the south and after a climb uphill you will be rewarded with a level approach into the village of Timsbury and a wonderful cup of tea and cake in the Conygre Hall, Timsbury.
