Route Details:
From the cars the walk takes us in a south easterly direction until we reach the outskirts of Badby, where we pick up the Knightley Way for a short while as we skirt around Badby Wood.
Continuing southwards we head towards the hamlet of Fawsley, on the way breaking for our coffee stop.
Continuing on, a short stretch of country road takes us back to field paths and to the Jurassic Way near Charwelton.
This takes us to Windmill Hill (not an exhausting climb) and our lunch stop at the Red Lion pub at Hellidon.
After lunch we continue through the village for a short while then leave the Jurassic Way temporarily to use local field paths which takes us by the source of
the River Leam
(whence the name Leamington on Spa).
The walk continues towards Lower Catesby, which we approach through a delightful avenue of Lime trees. At this point, we re-join the Jurassic Way, the route of which takes us near to Catesby Viaduct, an elegant 12 arch blue brick viaduct which carried the Great Central Railway across the Leam valley. Crossing the dismantled track bed, the final section of the walk takes us back to Staverton.
