Overview

Hosted by Stag Walkers as part of Stevenage Walking Festival. A leisurely circular walk from Stevenage to the edge of Knebworth Country Park as part of the Stevenage Walking Festival 2024 where you will enjoy some scenic countryside and hopefully spot some bluebells and deer along the way.

We will start by heading under the A1(M) and into the countryside to the small village of Langley where we will have an optional break.

From here, we will head past Burleighcroft Wood where we will hope to spot some bluebells, then through fields where we may see sheep grazing. We then walk through Graffidge Wood, also known for its bluebells, and into Knebworth Country Park where we might be able to spot some deer roaming around.

After a stroll along the edge of the park, we will stop for a lunch break by Knebworth House. You can either bring your own lunch or stop at the visitor centre cafe but to save time we recommend only ordering takeaway drinks and small snacks.

After our lunch stop, we will head into Wintergreen Wood, then through Burleigh Farm where we may see more sheep, and into more woodlands before reaching Kitching Lane taking us back to the car park at Meadway.

Dogs are welcome on a lead, as we may be passing livestock.

For information about walking with the group, including our dog policy, please visit the Stag Walkers website.

There is no limit on group size for this walk and booking is not essential; however, we do find it helpful to know who's coming, so:

* if you plan to come along, please book a place for yourself and any guests you are bringing

* if you have to cancel please update your RSVP so we know not to wait for you

* you can RSVP via our Meetup group or e-mail stagwalkers at gmail dot com

Please car-share or use public transport if possible. To offer a lift or ask for one from a fellow walker, please use the Meetup event page.

Please:

DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
