Would you like to join us for a pub meal after the walk?
Everyone is invited to join us for a post-walk Sunday meal at delightful village pub, The Red Lion in Studham. They serve great food, but it would be respectful to give them an idea of how many of us plan to visit for food in advance. If you’d like to join us for a meal after the walk, please could you let us know in advance? It’d be good to notify them by Thursday lunchtime at the latest - if you’d like to join us, please email yerunclebob6@gmail.com or text/WhatsApp 07500700983.
Walk description
We will begin by crossing the beautiful Studham Common and heading across beautiful countryside until we reach the Grade I-listed St Mary the Virgin Church.
We then stroll up to Whipsnade, passing through the grounds of the historic St Mary Magdalene Church. We go through Whipsnade Tree Cathedral and some pretty autumnal woodland before heading to the top of the Dunstable Downs, the highest point in the East of England.
After a nice stroll across the top of them, enjoying panoramic views over the pleasant villages of South West Bedfordshire, we meander our way back to the start point. Along the way we will walk alongside the perimeter fence of Whipsnade Zoo. If you keep your eyes peeled, you might get a glance of a meerkat or some such similar critter.
