This walk takes us through the lovely countryside of the northern Chilterns near Hitchin. We start just across the lane by the Red Lion and follow The Chiltern Way, turning off and re-joining it as we venture onto very quiet minor roads - including towards the end passing over the A505 - and other footpaths. The walk is easy-going and passes by 3 springs, hence the name. Prizes for those who can point them out - they are Mead Springs, Mazebeard Spring and Newfield Spring.
According to the Chilterns AONB website, the village of Great Offley takes its name from Saxon King Offa. According to local legend his palace once stood where Offley Place, a training and conference centre, now stands.
