Overview

Starting from one of the prettiest villages in the area, we go through the grounds of Calke Abbey before looping round up to Melbourne Hall and past The Pool, a picturesque lake. Then we go past Staunton Harold reservoir (toilets/cafe available at the visitor centre) before returning through Ticknall limeyards, which are now a nature reserve, and an optional trip through the 126m long Ticknall tramway tunnel (torch recommended - there is a surface route that avoids the tunnel for those who don't like dark spaces).
