Meet at Kingsmadows Car Park Peebles at 9.30am to share transport to the limited parking at Traquair Village Hall car park at OS GR NT 331345. The walk will start at this car park at 9.50am. We then follow the Southern Upland Way uphill via the Cheese Well until we turn off to the south west for the short ascent to the Minch Moor summit at 567m. We then retrace our steps downhill to the junction of the circular Taniel Hill Track (the bear path) which is followed down to the minor road junction adjacent to the mountain biking car park. This is crossed with care and our route rejoins the track at a gate on the far side of the B709. Then it is a short pleasant walk on the path through woodland and farmland near to Traquair house, with one further crossing of the B709, to get back to Traquair Village Hall and the start.
10km in distance and 460m of ascent (to a 567m summit). Great views on a clear day.
Pack lunch and drinks required. Good paths and tracks. One or two moderately steep sections. Please watch out for cyclists crossing the route. If you wish to join the walk you should text Ben on 07881 795215 or email ben.ro...@talktalk.net. Please add your mobile number for contact purposes.
