Overview

This Warwickshire and Gloucestershire walk passes Hidcote Manor Gardens and the Summit of Warwickshire. It also tracks some of the Centenary, Monarch's and Heart of England Ways. The walk starts south-east over fields to Ilmington, regarded as one of Warwickshire's most beautiful villages, though with a Cotswolds feel to it. (The church has 11 carved mice and a tapestry showing varieties of apples growing in the area, not that Sandwell Ramblers would ever go scrumping!) We then head west and uphill to the highest point in Warwickshire on Ilmington Down (261 metres) with views of the Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill. Passing Hidcote Manor Gardens, we continue in this direction to Mickleton Church, with Meon Hill to our right, before returning over fields to the start in a north-easterly direction.
