A scenic circular walk starting from Upton Magna, following part of the Shropshire Way up Haughmond Hill, and lovely views to the Shropshire Hills, returning through woodland and past the oldest cruck cottage in Europe, and with the opportunity to see wall paintings in St Lucia's Church. This is walk number 23 of the "20 More Walks around Shrewsbury" leaflet published by Shrewsbury Ramblers Group.
The 6 mile walk is on field paths, across woodland, and along quiet country lanes. There is one steep incline.
We'll meet at the Upton Magna Memorial Hall Car park. This can be busy so it may be necessary to park on the main road close to the hall. Nearest post-code is SY4 4TZ.
This is a Moderate walk. Please wear strong shoes / boots as parts of the paths are through woodland and across fields and will be uneven. Weather may be hot and sunny so I advise bringing a hat and sunscreen. Please bring a packed lunch, including drink, and a mid-morning snack.
