Overview

We will be walking through sections of the fell which is one of the largest mid-altitude heathlands remaining in County Durham. Hedleyhope Fell is a mosaic of heather, bilberry, acid grassland, rush pasture, bracken beds, patches of gorse and scattered trees. The heather seems to be right on song . We will be in each valley on either side of the fell, in mixed terrain.
