Overview

Our walk will start at the Information Centre of the remains of the Roman Town of Calleva Atrebatvm.  We will be walking through the countryside to the Amphitheatre, following the remains of the town wall, then through a conifer plantation to the outskirts of Mortimer, before returning to Silchester Roman Town.  There are exposed tree roots and gravelly areas unerfoot and there will be some road walking and a hill at the end of the walk. It is possible that it will be muddy and a bit wet underfoot (you will understand why the Romans chose the site), especially if we have had recent wet weather
