Overview

West Mendip Walkers moderate 9 mile circular walk from the south east corner of the Bishops Palace moat. The walk starts in a north easterly direction over Tors Hill along the East Mendip Way. Crossing the road leading north out of Dinder we descend into Croscombe. Here we cross the A371 and climb steadily south to Knowle Hill. The route then descends into Red Lake Valley and turns westerly across pasture and the most delightful wild- flower meadows to Stoodley Bridge, before veering south west to North Town. It then turns north westerly skirting Worminster Down. Just beyond this a great view of Wells Cathedral comes into view. At Dulcote Quarry we join the Strawberry Line Path back towards Wells. The final section takes us through Park Wood and on to the Bishops Place.

Mainly dog friendly. However, the owners of the wild-flower meadows ask for dogs to be kept on leads. Also, cattle and sheep were out in several fields during the recce in July.

There are a number of stiles.
