Overview

West Mendip Walkers strenuous 12-mile circular walk from lay-by on Woodlands Hill, Holford (TA5 1SE). A brief 150 foot climb from the car park before descending into Holford (450ft). From Holdford a largely gentle climb of 2 miles (brief steep section at the end) up to Bicknoller Post at 950 feet at 3.5 miles. Gentle undulating climb to Hurley Beacon at around 5 miles and the highest point of 1132 feet at around 5 miles. Walk to Crowcombe Park Gate and along the causeway towards Triscombe before dropping down to Great Quantock Farm then via Quantock Combe to arrive at the Foxy Bean Cafe at 8.6 miles (450 ft). After break, climb gently through Ashley Combe then Great Bear at 1000 feet before gentle downhill to Woodlands Hill at 850 ft before steep descent back to starting point.
