The walk takes a meandering start through Cherry Hinton before breaking out into the countryside. As we ascend towards Wandlebury, there are opportunities to look back over the carbuncular pot pourri of architecture at Addenbrookes. On reaching the site of the former fort, there should be a view of Ely Cathedral, weather permitting.

On leaving Wandlebury, we follow the Roman Road for a short stretch before heading towards Fulbourn Fen, a scenic backdoor for the eponymous village. We have a pub stop in Fulbourn at the Six Bells. There is also an option to take a bus back to the city centre from here for anyone who wishes to cut the walk short.

The final leg takes us under the watchful gaze of the Fulbourn Windmill as we return to Cherry Hinton, passing through the park and back to our starting point.
