From warren’s hall nature reserve, we start the nearly 2 mile uphill walk to Turners Hill, the highest point in the West Midlands at 271 metres, via estate roads, a golf course and grassland, stopping occasionally to admire the views.
Good news is that the remainder of the walk is down hill or flat as we head down to the canal, eventually coming to the Netherton canal tunnel, which at 2768 metres (1.73 miles) is the longest in the West Midlands.
Please note that the tunnel towpath is quite potholed in places, some of which have an inch or two of water in them. Also the tunnel is unlit.
So a torch and leak-free boots are a must, and a spare pair of socks might be worthwhile.
