Overview

We head north past Stourhead House on footpaths and tracks before circling up to White Sheet Downs and White Sheet Hill for panoramic views to accompany our lunch. From here downhill to our cars.

An undulating walk with one ascent before lunch.

Most years White Sheet Hill will be closely cropped and full of specialist late summer chalk downland plants including rare Gentians and the latest UK flowering orchid, Autumn Lady`s Tresses (seen on the recce. As well as those from images above; Betony, Dwarf Thistle, Eyebright, Harebell & Scabious). Be warned that some of these are very small plants. Small but special.
