This is the third leg of the West Anglian Way. The early part of the walk is primarily along wide paths across flat open fields and through woods until we reach the outskirts of Bishops Stortford when we follow the River Stort. We pass Stansted Mountfitchet rail station about half way through the walk so there is the option to drop out there if you wish. It is easy walking but the ground is liable to be wet and is a bit overgrown in places so wear waterproof boots or shoes and be prepared for some muddy stretches. Train/travel details: Take the 9.40 train from Tottenham Hale arriving at Newport (Essex) at 10.27. There are regular trains back to London from Bishops Stortford. Buy a return ticket to Newport (Essex).
