Coffee/toilets at Claremont NT (card not required). Cross the road to the common and ascend to The Ledges, good views of the snaking Mole, then across the common for lunch (pub/picnic). Return by a different route to the 715 stop back to Kingston. Optional visit to the NT Claremont Landscape Garden. An alternative route either outward or homeward is the SL7 bus. Bus Checker gives the departure from Sutton Grove Road as 09:53 but the 09:39 (or 09:25 even) is probably safer for the connection in Kingston. Text me to book by Monday 6pm.
Update:
Assuming the 09:49 Thameslink is running I am happy if people join anywhere on my route which is arrive Wimbledon 10:06 platform 9, change to Platform 8 for the 10:13 to Kingston, arrive c.10:30, through the concourse and walk E crossing at the lights to Cromwell Road Bus Station where the 715 Falcon bus departs at 10:45 (if you miss this you are not on the walk as it is hourly!). NB the alternative SL7 to KIngston stops by the station on the opposite side and does not call at Cromwell Road Bus Station but you can walk instead to Eden Street shops where the 715 calls about 10:47.
I may well be tempted to change from the 715 to the SL7 at Cromwell Road for the homeward journey. The departures from the West End Lane bus stop opposite Claremont Landscape Garden (NT) are at 1406, 1506, 1618, 1718 in case you decide to stay after the ice cream/toilet stop to walk round the lake etc as the main walk is only 4 miles
I have booked for 6-8 at The Prince of Wales on WEst End Common but there is an excellent picnic spot by the lake just opposite. Please book by text (07719233269) if you wish to eat at the pub.
