Our walk starts from the edge of the Northamptonshire village of West Haddon. After walking through the village we head north east following (mostly) fairly firm farm tracks and country roads to the Nagarjuna Kadampa Meditation Centre at Thornby Hall. We will enjoy the woodland walk through their grounds before enjoying a coffee stop by the lake. Alternatively, some walkers may wish to visit The World Peace Cafe, which serves teas, coffees, cakes and light refreshments. Toilets are also available there. We then retrace our steps for half a mile before following a quiet country road to Guilsborough and our lunch break at The Ward Arms PH. Please do not consume your own food on their premises but instead use the nearby village green. After lunch we follow mostly field paths back to our cars.
Parking is on a wide, flat grass verge and is free of charge.
I did the recce on 23/5/24 after some heavy rain the day before but fortunately there not much mud to trouble me. The countryside is undulating with some lovely views but no big hills (total ascent is 920 ft) If you've never visited Thornby Hall before then I'm sure you will find it interesting. You can also expect a warm welcome at The Ward Arms who were serving Timothy Taylor and London Pride when I visited.
