This is a walk close to the leader's heart, rich in heritage and taking us through the childhood playground of the ancient oak and beech woodlands of both North Dean and Copley, before leading us to the world's tallest folly, Wainhouse Tower, also known as the Tower of Spite! Further points of interest include Robin Hood's Cave, the Jacobean-style Cley House and even the site of a Roman fort.
Although largely woodland, this walk has many points of interest and is not particularly challenging unless very wet so it is recommended to dress appropriately for the forecast conditions, most especially footwear, and walking poles are suggested to aid balance should you need them.
There are several pubs and cafes in West Vale for a post-walk pick-me-up, however do bring a packed lunch and drink as there are no cafes en route.
Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome but are the sole responsibility of the owner.
