This is a 10 mile walk from Thornbury to the River Severn via part of the Jubilee Way.
The terrain is a mix of footpaths, tracks (maybe muddy in places) and some tarmac, crossing parkland, fields and woodland, The fields could have live stock so NO DOGS PLEASE (except assistance dogs).
After passing Littleton on Severn and arriving on the river embankment the route goes upstream. The embankment makes a pleasant lunch stop with views of first motorway crossing and the strong tidal stream. Or Severn mud depending on the state of the tide.
Depending on the pace of the group we may get as far as Littleton Wharf - AKA Whale Wharf - for our lunch. Continuing along the bank for about a kilometer the route turns north-east-ish away from the Severn to one of the local churches on an elevated position for a panorama of the river.
The return to Thornbury involves about a kilometer of tarmac followed by farmland, occasionally on the banks of Pickmore Lane Rhine. The last part skirts Thornbury along footpaths back to the car park.
There are 5 stiles on this walk.
Land Marks and points of interest include the Severn Suspension Bridge; Littleton Wharf & St Arilda Church.
