A mixture of moorland and woodland. The walk will start from the meeting place in Whaley Bridge and set off passing Toddbrook Reservoir before ascending through woodland and moorland. This part of the route passes by Cornhill, Baileys, and Cornfield Farms. On reaching the Gritstone Trail we pass Bowstone Gate to descend to Lights Low continuing past Hampers Wood into Lantern Wood before returning to start via Dissop Head and Whaley Moor.

On the way there will be the option to pause by the reservoir to review the construction work taking place and also to visit the Lantern in Lantern Wood. 

Parts of the route will follow quiet country lanes and stony tracks with usual moorland paths.
