From Whissendine we pass through a stable yard, a short road walk, making our way to a long Stapleford farm track. We meander until we meet the road. Turning right, we head towards a manned level crossing. In a short distance, our coffee stop will be at the Wymondham Ruff nature reserve. You might choose to eat a small snack because lunch is at the end of the walk.
We continue along a narrow country lane until we reach the Wymondham Village school. We take a lovely walk at the back of the houses towards The Old rectory and Wymondham House. At the stream we walk on the grass area over the stream, to avoid crossing a slippery ford.
Pass Spring Farm towards the brook (possibly laying water). The walk heads back over fields towards an automatic crossing. We walk along the lane towards Whissendine before turning right over a couple of fields, back to David’s yard for your packed lunch and a glass of Jenny’s mulled wine to toast in the New Year.
Additional Info: The walk is designed to avoid too much heavy going. Walking Poles recommended in case of slippery surfaces. It is followed by Jenny’s Mulled wine in David’s Holmes’s, barn in Whissendine, at the end.
There are a few styles close to the start of the walk and a brook, whilst crossing several pasture fields
In case of bad weather please contact the leader to make sure that the walk is going ahead
