From Clough House Peak District Car Park, we head out a short distance and ascend Shutlingsloe Hill. From the summit (506m) we descend towards Macclesfield Forest. With the edge of the forest on our left we drop down to Dryknowle farm and pick up the path to Broughsplace. At Torgate farm we head up the inclined road to the High Peak Café and onto the Cat and Fiddle. Here we cross the road and make our way across the top of the Moor to the site of the old Danebower colliery workings. Having crossed the road it’s a short but relatively steep descent into Dane bower Hollow where we follow the river to Three Shires Head. From the bridge, the river on our left we take the inclined path back up to the moor. At the road we cross and take the path around Cuthorn Hill to Crag Hall and the short road back to the car park.
Packed lunch is required. Unfortunately dogs will need to be on the lead for most of the walk (livestock and bird preservation areas on the moors) and there are some reasonably steep descents that might need consideration if your dog pulls.
