Mainly using the Limestone Way, we walk from Winster Bank Top through typical lead mining areas, with the typical White Peak drystone walls, to the town of Bonsall and return via Ible. Lots of squeezer stiles, many in poor condition, some muddy stretches. (Bonsall had 'T'Owd Man', the earliest known depiction of a lead miner, with his pick and bucket, before it was removed to Wirksworth church.)
The group does not stop at cafes or pubs for lunch, and you should bring enough food and drinks with you to last the whole walk. We have a short coffee break an hour or so into the walk, and stop for packed lunch around 1230-1300, although weather and a suitable location affect both timings.
Risk assessment: The walk leader has assessed this walk for the following risks, but during the walk others may become evident. You WILL come across squeezer stiles, many with broken wallstones, and gates. You will also come across rocky sections and muddy/slippery sections of path, and farm livestock. Inclement weather is always possible. You should remain stay alert and take individual responsibility.
