Nothing can quite prepare you for the stark beauty of Scotland’s far northwest and this walk climbing Stac Pollaidh showcases this area at its very best, treating you to panoramic views over Britain’s great wilderness.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles. This alternative route takes you up to the CIC Hut, with the focal point the extraordinary North Face, something you miss if you ascend by the Mountain Track.
Want to experience the beauty of the Fife Coastal Path but don’t have time to walk the whole thing? Try this stretch, from Buckhaven to Ravenscraig Park, exploring the many historical points of interest along the way.
Arthur’s Seat is a dramatic dollop of Scottish wilderness rising unexpectedly from the heart of Edinburgh. There may be a steep climb to the top, but on a clear day you’ll be rewarded with incredible views.
This route from Cairn Gorm onto Ben MacDui is superb. Walk above steep corries, across boulder-strewn landscapes and look out for wildlife unique to the region, like Britain’s only herd of wild reindeer.
This route highlights the canals of Stirlingshire, including the Union Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal. Take time to stop and look at the Falkirk Wheel – the only rotating boat lift in the world.
