What we do
Protecting our countryside
A good Ramblers Group cares for the walking environment. For Doncaster Ramblers this means helping the Council check each of the 603 rights of way in the City of Doncaster. We do this with over 20 members each agreeing to check one 5km square on the OS map of Doncaster every year. For several years, we achieved a 100% success rate, although it must be admitted we have struggled to meet this target since the Covid pandemic and more Volunteers are always welcome.
There are other ways for you to get involved to help protect our path network. As well as checking the rights of way, 20+ members volunteer to improve paths for the good of everyone using them – this can involve, fixing broken stiles or fallen waymarks, installing kissing gates and cutting back vegetation.
