What we do
Our walks are graded as follows:
EASY - Up to 12km/7miles, up to 200m/500ft ascent
LEISURELY - 12-16km/7-10miles, up to 300m/1000ft ascent
MODERATE - 10-20km/8-13miles, up to 600m/2000ft ascent
STRENUOUS - More than 20km/13miles, ascent may be over 600m/2000ft
Strenuous walks are at a brisk pace
Each coach offers several walks each week, so there are plenty of opportunities for those who would like to be involved in leading walks to learn from experienced leaders. There’s also on-line training available from Ramblers.
The group also undertakes waymarking & footpath work for Northumberland County Council every second Tuesday of the month. Email David Dallow or call 0191 285 6740 if you would like to help with this work.
The Tyne & Wear Heritage Way is an 80 mile walk and was created by Northumbria Ramblers. It is broken up into 9 easy walks of 9 miles. Visit the website where you can find guides with maps, walk instructions and heritage information.
