78 walks

In the three months July-September our walk leaders led 78 walks with 901 walkers and over 7200 miles walked (mileage x walkers).

The map above shows where we walked - from Hampshire's borders and further afield, to many walks on our own patch. In addition to our regular programme, one of our members, Harry Mycock led a series of walks exploring the places that Jane Austen knew as a young girl and in her latter years.

Autumn path clearance work

Our group has some new battery powered equipment that was given a first work out when several team members got together to support Friends of St Giles Hill to clear pathways and overgrown areas in the Park.

We're also working on a flurry of autumn path clearance work at the moment. Recently we reestablished a completely overgrown path at Ovington before it was lost altogether. It's amazing what two brush cutters can achieve in a couple of hours!

Path Watchers

Our team of Path Watchers will be walking the many Rights of Way in their patches over the autumn, logging and reporting any problems with signage and access to the Hampshire Countryside Service Team.

Walking holiday in the Tyrol

In September, nineteen of our members took an HF walking holiday based at Weidach in the Austrian Tyrol. They enjoyed a comfortable refurbished hotel and a cvhoice of two walks each day.
