Route Summary An 8.5 mile circular walk along 'The Roaches', north of Leek, Staffordshire Peak District with weird rock formations; sightings of peregrine falcons and red grouse and Lud's Church - a hidden cleft with its own microclimate and flora.

Stupendous scenery from the Roaches. The walk beyond to Luds Church seems like another walk in itself: most certainly worth climbing through the muddier, more forested area, surrounding the "Church". It is in fact a magical chasm in the rock - quite unexpected.

Please note the grid reference for the car park is incorrect and is in Wales. The correct grid reference is SK004622
