Mature Scots pine stand amongst an old plantation in this Forestry Commission site. Large scale pinewood restoration is taking place to remove the non-native trees and return the area to pinewood habitat.
Situated a short distance from the tiny Achnashellach railway station the wood lies along three glens which lead into the River Carron. Forestry Commission tracks provide good access which soon gives way to remote hill tracks leading to several popular Munros. There are few facilities in this area but there is a convenient hostel well used by hill walkers, nearby. At Craig.
