Three woods, Glen Fuar, Doire Darach and Crannach, make up the Blackmount woods near Loch Tulla on the edge of the great Rannoch Moor peatland.
Part of the West Highland Way from Bridge of Orchy leads to the vicinity of the woods with hill tracks leading into the three woods. The surrounding scenery with the loch and high dark mountains is well worth the trek along 18th century military roads. Following in the footsteps of Darwin and Dickens leads to the old inn at Inveroran which instantly transports the walker back 200 years.
