The ancient pinewoods in Glen Cannich have been decimated by past fires and forest management. They are now under recovery and this beautiful glen is well worth a visit.
A good quality access road leads through the glen past the small groups of remaining pine up to Loch Mullardoch. Large scale forestry activity is helping repair the woods, removing non-native conifers to allow the pinewood to regenerate. Despite the upheaval from forestry activity there are tranquil areas and the walk alongside the River Cannich with its small lochs is a rewarding experience.
