Much of the original woodland in Guisachan forest has been destroyed by past commercial forestry activity but a new conservation programme is encouraging regeneration of the pines.
The pinewood will take time to heal but despite the obvious scars this is a wonderful glen to visit. A good access road leads from the quaint Victorian purpose built village of Tomich and on to well-marked forest trails. There are short walks to dramatic waterfalls in the woods or a longer route up to the head of the glen and over into Glen Affric for the more ambitious traveller.
