Waypoints

1

Facing the Elephant & Castle pub in Woodwalton, turn right and follow the road to Great Raveley. Walk uphill, passing the village hall on the R. At top of hill turn left on road, ignoring the track to right. After 100m, turn right off road to follow public bridleway signposted ‘Little Raveley 2¼ miles’. Walk along the bridleway for about 1.5km to reach a bench at Poplar Spinney. Follow bridleway until you reach a gap in the hedge on right. Do not turn right on the public bridleway but continue straight on around the field edge with the hedgerow on the right. After just over 1km, at junction of bridleways, carry straight on with the hedgerow on right. The path then turns right and then left, continuing over a footbridge with hedgerow now on left. Follow it and then turn right to follow broad track through farmyard to road in Great Raveley.

2

Turn left on road in Great Raveley and then turn right at post box to follow public footpath signed ‘Upwood ¾ mile’. Cross Meadow Lane on entering Upwood village and continue north along High Street. The Cross Keys is 500m on right. Our path leaves Upwood 250m along High Street, turning left along Bentley Close. Turn right between bungalows No 7 and No 9 to kissing gate leading into open meadowland. At Upwood Nature Reserve notice board walk straight ahead for 50m to kissing gate and bridge through gap in hedge. Continue straight ahead toward Lady’s Wood.

3

Turn left to walk around the outside of Lady’s Wood, although there is a circular path inside if you wish to explore. Otherwise, turn left at end of Lady’s Wood to follow track for 100m to cross dyke. Turn right and follow field edge for further 100m to pass through hedge and then walk diagonally SW to 5-way junction of paths at Raveley Fen Road (track).

4

Follow farm track signed ‘Public Footpath Church End 2 miles’. After 250m, pass around Brighty’s Farm and continue on this track for a further 800m before turning left to Moat Farm. Pass through the farm and continue on farm track for a further 900m to Keeler Farm. At right-hand edge of farm building follow footpath uphill for 500m before descending for a further 500m to gate at right-hand side of small copse. Pass through gate to right-hand edge of next field, exiting through gate onto small road back to Woodwalton.
