A circular walk taking in an old woollen mill, two length of an old railway line, a meandering river and a village where a young R D Blackmore lived. Some quiet lanes, very little ascent over the whole route and about 4 stiles. Oh, and a totem pole!

This circular route can be walked at any time of the year but as a firm surface can be found on most of the route it lends itself to winter walking. There are several fairly stiff climbs but this gives the walker a plethora of excellent views.

A lovely and very varied walk. There are superb views at various locations. At the start of the route there is a lot of information about whetstone mining in the area, the church, Blackborough House and the Beacon.

Yew walk from Plymtree to Clyst Hydon and back by circular route
Starts at grade 1 listed church in Plymtree with its 1100 year old yew tree. It goes across farmland passing another grade 1 church in Clyst Hydon and returns via more farmland and a Woodland Trust copse. Mud possible - walking boots recommended.

Part 11 of the journey across Somerset. From Wiveliscombe, the route climbs over Maundon Hill and then follows paths and minor roads through remote country. Finally reaching Kennisham Hill on the Brendons.

Once out of Wiveliscombe, this walk is over fields, on tracks and green lanes. It does have quite a few stiles and one section through the quarry in Oakhampton Wood means a scramble or two. Views over the countryside are excellent.
