Banton Loch

Start:

Colzium to Banton

From Colzium Estate, Kilsyth, we make our way to Banton Loch. After a short break at Banton we go down to the Forth and Clyde canal. A short distance along at Craigmarloch we leave the canal and take paths back to Colzium.

Tea break at Banton. Lunch at end of walk in Walled Garden. Tea,  coffee and cakes in Colzium Cafe.

Some pavement walking, and open paths with uphill sections to the community park & Aria.  Return via Seafar Woods, with some uphill sections.

Start:

Kilsyth circular via Dumbreck Marshes

This fairly flat walk, is on good paths, and takes us from Kilsyth to Dumbreck Marshes via Garrell Burn.  The area at the Marshes can be muddy or waterlogged, depending on recent weather conditions.

Walking from Kilsyth via Balcastle and High Line to Colzium. This is an uphill route, paths can be muddy and uneven

Due to limited places, this event is for C&K Ramblers only

Join your Captain and Cabin Crew for a leisurely 2 x hour cruise along the scenic canal from Auchenstarry to Wyndford Lock and back.  Please note that tea and coffee is available on board, however, you are encouraged to take on your own food and drink (strong or otherwise)!!!

£10.00 per person for boat trip.   Bring your own bevvy/food.

*** Roman in the Gloamin’ Family Walk ***

Ramblers, family and friends young and old event

Bring along your younger, and older, family members (as long as they are able to participate in a walk across uneven terrain) to a new event.  ‘Roman in the Gloamin’ will involve us celebrating our local Roman history.

We will be walking up Croy Hill to see Silvanus, a huge head sculpture of a Roman Soldier.

For the children there will be a fun quiz.

Following the event, you may wish to take children to Auchinstarry Roman Play Park

The Fandabidozi Walk (for weekday walkers)

A walk to Queenzieburn village, childhood home of Janette Tough (aka Wee Jimmy Krankie).  From the edge of Kilsyth, we will start along a short section of an old mineral railway line (known as Neilston Walk), then follow minor roads uphill and across to the west.  If the weather is fine, we will detour to the lovely Stoneree Glen for elevenses.  After the road heads downhill, we will turn east again along a historic path, Joe Moses Road, then another path to the edge of Queenzieburn, where a further path is followed back to the starting point.

The walk starts with a steep climb to Annanhead Hill and follows the Annandale Way for a short distance before descending Whitehope Know and Hart Fell.  The descent passes Arthurs Seat and Hart Fell Spa then joins the Annandale Way into Moffat

This circular route leads out of Wanlockhead (the highest village in Scotland) into the hills to the west.  The route then joins the Southern Upland Way for the walk back into Wanlockhead, passing numerous remnants of the areas historic lead mining industy

The walk will start at Elvanfoot follow disused railway track to Leadhills.  We then walk by the heritage railway line on through to Wanlockhead.

Tweedswell to Moffat

Starting from Tweedswell the walk initially follows a farm track through open farmland then through some trees.  There is a short section on the verge of the road to view the Devil's Beef Tub from the southwest rim.  Mostly on good paths and tracks with a section of road towards the end before following the riverside path at Moffat.

Beinn an Dothaidh up and down from Bridge of Orchy

Although far less known than its neighbour Beinn Dòrain, Beinn an Dòthaidh is the finer viewpoint, the cairn on the edge of the steep northern side having a magnificent aerial panorama over Loch Tulla and Rannoch Moor.

Start:

Anstruther Circular via St Monans

Starting at Anstruther the walk goes inland toward Grangemuir then on to the Balcaskie Estate, Abercrombie village, and St Monans.  Then our route follows the Fife Coastal Path back to Anstruther via Pittenweem. The route is relatively flat along small country roads, good paths through open farmland with fine views to Berwick Law and the Bass Rock.

Carron Glen Wildlife Reserve circular

Carron Glen is a beautiful native oak and ash woodland, along a steep sided gorge by River Carron. Much of this walk is on uneven and rough tracks which can be muddy during/after wet weather. There are also some slightly steep sections

A lovely walk around Denny and Dunipace along the River Carron, through parkland and woodland. Short section through industrial estate and housing estate. Passing the famous Sweet Chestnut Tree and its offspring.

View from Lewis Hill

A walk on the wild side (of Stirling); Lewis Hill and North Third

One of the best ridge walks in Central Scotland: it has a wild feel and on a clear day great views. Some places can be slippery. This route is best enjoyed after a dry spell or when there is a frost.

Canada Wood & Falkirk Wheel Circular

A leisurely walk starting at Greenrig car park on Lochgreen Rd. We will head up for the Union Canal then walk to the Falkirk Wheel upper basin. From there we will walk to Roughcastle for a lunch stop at the Rowan Tree burn before heading back through Canada Woods to the car park. Please register with me if you would like to come on the walk. ( Note: Parking is free if you use the cafe, otherwise it is £2.50.
