Overview

Tamar & Bere Wellbeing Walking Group

Pull on your walking boots – there are some great places to explore throughout the Tamar Valley, whatever your ability or interests.

Our friendly Tamar & Bere Wellbeing Walks group, led by experienced and supportive walk leaders, meets every Thursday morning at 10am to visit various locations in the Tamar Valley National Landscape. It’s really a great way to meet new people, explore the area, and improve your health – and, like all Wellbeing Walks, it’s free and there is no need to book! We like to have time for a cuppa afterwards, either in a local café or at the Tamar Valley Centre near Gunnislake – whichever is most convenient.

From the bus stop on the quay, along the footpath by the river with extensive views over the wetlands, crossing the new footbridge and at the end of the riverside path path continue up into a nature reserve footpath to Okel Tor Mine, (a series of deep steps going down, with a short uphill section) before coming back on the same footpath to join the lane back to Calstock.

Be aware that paths may be muddy and uneven and conditions can change, so wear appropriate footwear and comfortable clothing. A walking stick is useful too. Also consider bringing a drink and snack, should you require it, particularly for longer walks.
