Towards Woodhill along the Irwell River Trail

Start:

BEATS (Bury Exercise and Therapy Scheme) Community Wellbeing Walk (LONGER)

This 3-mile circular walk follows the same route as the 1-mile Wednesday BEATS walk route up until the footbridge, where it then crosses the River Irwell and heads into Burrs Country Park, following the River to The Lamppost Cafe, where walkers can enjoy a tea or coffee (or bring there own refreshments to enjoy outside) before heading back to Castle Leisure Centre.
These walks are mainly on level ground, although the footpath alongside the river may be a little muddy/wet at times if it has been raining so sturdy footwear is recommended.
*Please Note: On the first friday of the month, this walk offers an alternative route through the Town to Peachment Place, close to the River Roche where walkers take advantage of the cafe facilities there to enjoy a brew/light bite before heading back to Castle Leisure Centre where the walk ends.
