Advantage! Rambling Raiders (Ulverston)

Weekly walks in and around the Ulverston area. Inclusive and dog friendly, led by an Advantage Barrow Raiders Coach with a Volunteer. The aim is to enjoy being in the fresh air, socialising with members and improving fitness and general wellbeing through exercise.

The route can change each week but weekly details are listed on the FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/675153786558962/.

Possible routes include: South Ulverston, Sandside, The Canal, Priory Woods, Brick Lane to the Beach and Hoad monument (around the bottom).

Cartmel Wellbeing Walk

The Cartmel Wellbeing Walk is held every Tuesday (apart from when it’s Christmas Day) leaving from Cartmel Racecourse Grandstand drive (not the main car park) at 11am.  All standards of ability are catered for and walks will be organised on the day to suit individuals who turn up.  There is no need to book in advance and attendance is free.

Special clothing and boots are not necessary, but please dress for the weather and stout comfortable footwear is advised.  The main walk normally lasts around one hour but shorter walks will be held to suit individuals.  Please turn up at 10.45am on your first occasion to register.  Contact Ewen Cameron on 07929 833528 or ay e.cameron1@btinternet.com for information.

Wander and Ponder Kendal Wellbeing Walk

Meet at Kendal Town Hall at 13:30pm every Tuesday October to December.

60-minute gentle walk around the green spaces in Kendal. Simply turn up. We meet rain or shine. Steady pace, easy terrain, friendly faces. Dogs on leads welcome. Option of finishing at a café or warm hub.

Start:

Walney Shoreline Walk

Meet at 1020 at the Roundhouse Hub at Biggar Bank at the end of the A590.  Walk down Ocean Rd and then North along The Promenade to Mill Lane and follow the road to Walney Fort, across Furness Golf Links to the beach.  Turn South along the Furness Greenway/England Coast Path to Sandy Gap and back the start at Biggar Bank.  Take refuge in the excellent café for post-walk chat.

Some soft sand when starting along the Greenway but this can be avoided by using Black Butts Lane and walking down Central Drive.

Grange-over-Sands Wellbeing Walk

The Grange-over-Sands Wellbeing Walk is held every Thursday (apart from when it’s Christmas Day) meeting in the pay and display car park opposite the Town Hall/Victoria Hall and behind the Commodore Pub. The walk assembles at the end by the memorial park.

All standards of ability are catered for, and walks will be organised on the day to suit individuals who turn up.  There is no need to book in advance and attendance is free (apart from car park charges).  Special clothing and boots are not necessary, but please dress for the weather and stout comfortable footwear is advised.  The main walk normally lasts around one hour but a short, gentle and level walk is available for anyone with limited mobility.  Please turn up at 10.45am on your first occasion to register.

Barrow Litter Hitter - Wellbeing Walk

A weekly walk, meeting at Barrow’s Furness Railway Pub, walking through the Town Centre and other places of interest around the Town, to develop well being and pick up litter along the way for those who want to.

Wellbeing Walk - Barrow Town Centre

The walk will start at the Library on Ramsden Square and then we will walk along Abbey Road to the John Whinnerah Institute, cross over to the Custom House. Walk along Hindpool Road and Lawson Street to the Imperial Hotel, walk round to the Holiday Inn and Schneider Square. Back to the Town Hall and along Portland Walk to Dalton Road, Abbey Road and back to the library. On the way we will look at buildings of historic interest and talk about the history of the town.

Kendal Sunday WalksnWags

This free monthly health walk takes place on the 1st Sunday of every month. We meet just before 10:00am, outside Kendal Library, Stricklandgate. Walks last up to 60 minutes and always go at a pace which works for everyone.

‘WalksnWags’ walks are always suitable to bring a dog and cater for walkers of all abilities. Everyone is welcome, with or without a furry friend. 

We have a range of routes taking in the many green spaces and points of interest around the town.

All walks end with the opportunity to go for an optional cuppa at a dog friendly cafe in the town.

Walney Wellbeing Walk

Join us for our Walney Wellbeing Walk. Starting and finishing at Walney Community Trust, Spring Mount Hall, Amphitrite Street (opposite Co-op). Approximate 2 mile flat walk on Walney using slightly different routes each week but all will be pushchair friendly. Toilet and refreshment facilities available at Walney Community Trust.

Start:

Askam Sea View Wellbeing Walk

Starting at Askam G.P Surgery, we will take in the quaint atmosphere of the village. As we continue, we will reach the cenotaph, a solemn memorial with a lovely view from there we will walk past a few local shops ideal for grabbing a snack. As we approach the end of the village, we will be greeted by a stunning view of the expansive beach and Duddon Estuary. The walk is led by NHS staff, and will finish back at the GP surgery.
