A predominantly residential neighbourhood, Brockley is known by locals as the ‘hidden gem’ of London’s south east boroughs. Brockley has four key centres of shops and amenities - Crofton Park, Ladywell and Honor Oak Park - all within easy walking distance of each other and clustered around good public transport links. Many of the key routes in and around Brockley, connecting places people want and need to visit, are through beautiful green spaces. Many of the shops are independently owned and a range of well-connected bars, pubs and restaurants create a real community atmosphere.

What is so special about Brockley?

Greater Brockley was nominated because it sets a great example to other London neighbourhoods on how to encourage residents to walk their everyday journeys. It achieves this through a series of innovative conservation projects, a well-integrated walking network and variety of green spaces. The vibrant mix of street art and things to do there also adds to its community-friendly feel, making it a place that enthuses us to visit.
