Support from the Ramblers

Can the Ramblers help promote my fundraising event?

We cannot guarantee we can promote individual fundraising events but can offer advice on how to promote your fundraising event with your local newspaper or radio station or using social media.

How do I explain what the Ramblers does?

The Ramblers is Great Britain’s largest walking charity. For over 80 years we have been fighting for walkers’ rights, protecting our green spaces and ensuring that everyone gets to enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. Discover more about what we do.

Can someone from the Ramblers come and speak at my event?

We can certainly ask one of our volunteers in your local area to come and speak, however we cannot guarantee attendance. For large events we will always try our best to arrange attendance of staff to support and speak at your event.

We can also help you by giving a statement that you can read aloud, thanking everyone for their hard work and explaining how the money and donations will be spent. To receive a statement, email us at

How do I know that my money and donations have reached you?

It can take us a few weeks to process your donations once we have received them, but as soon as we do receive your donation we will send you a thank you letter by way of receipt.

How do I claim Gift Aid on the money I raise?

As a registered charity, the Ramblers is allowed to claim back an extra 25p on every £1 donated to us in gift aid. For us to be able to claim gift aid you need to check the sponsor or donator is a UK tax payer, record their title, full name and surname, home address, postcode, donation amount and make sure they tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form or web page.
